Can I get an individual policy with maternity coverage?

Some companies allow maternity coverage to be added to a policy.  In Texas, UnitedHealthcare offers some plans with a maternity rider option.  A rider is an addition to a policy.  However, typically the benefits on the maternity coverage are limited, and you may not be expecting a child at the time of the application.  Even though many individual plans do not offer maternity coverage, most cover complications of pregnancy.  With this being said, it is more advantageous to plan for your delivery using an HSA account.  You will receive tax advantages with the money you save, and you can use your insurance in case there are any complications of pregnancy.
